Complete guide to using Plex with Andrew's Media Server

Account Setup

Create Plex Account

Visit plex.tv and sign up for a free account.

Account Requirements:

  • Valid email address
  • Strong password (8+ characters)
  • Email verification required

Accept Server Invitation

Check your email for Andrew's server invitation and click "Accept Invitation".

Invitation Process:

  • Look for email from Plex or Andrew
  • Click "Accept Invitation" button
  • You'll be redirected to Plex Web
  • Server will appear in your library

Access the Server

Log in to app.plex.tv and select Andrew's server.

Server Access:

  • Server appears in left sidebar
  • Click on server name to browse
  • All libraries will be visible

Library Organization

Managing Pinned Libraries

Customize your Plex experience by organizing which libraries appear in your sidebar.

Remove Default Libraries

Unpin unwanted default libraries to clean up your sidebar.

How to unpin:

  • Hover over unwanted library in sidebar
  • Click the three dots (⋯) menu
  • Select "Unpin from Sidebar"

Add Andrew's Libraries

Pin Andrew's server libraries for easy access.

How to pin:

  • Click "More…" in the sidebar
  • Find Andrew's server libraries
  • Click "Pin to Sidebar" for each library

Reorder Libraries

Arrange libraries in your preferred order.

How to reorder:

  • Drag and drop libraries in sidebar
  • Most important libraries at the top
  • Changes save automatically

Tip: Pin your most frequently accessed libraries (Movies, TV Shows) at the top for quick access.

Playback Optimization

Quality Settings

Optimize your playback settings for the best streaming experience.

Access Settings

  1. Click your profile picture in the top-right corner
  2. Select "Settings" from the dropdown menu
  3. Navigate to "Quality" section
  4. Click on "Playback" tab

Recommended Settings

Local Quality

Set to Maximum for best quality when streaming locally

Remote Quality

Set to Maximum for best quality when streaming remotely

Direct Play

Enable Direct Play for supported formats

Direct Stream

Enable Direct Stream for container conversion

Note: Higher quality settings require more bandwidth. Adjust based on your internet connection speed.

  • Use partial titles for broader results
  • Include release year for more accurate results
